The Genre of Temperance

“Mr. Temperance, please terminate this dangerous electrical process at once. You are an honoured guest upon mommy Leprechaun, Kristyn Stone’s lovely blog, ‘The Resistance’.”

“Yes, Ma’am, Miss Plumtartt, Ma’am, but that’s why I have my trans-universal-temporal-scripto-graph running. The vacuum tubes are blistering hot. I am now ready to communicate to the far off distant year of two thousand and something, from our time in 1877.”

“Bravo, Mr. Temperance, your timing is impeccable. Miss Stone lives in the beautiful American West of Colorado, but admits to having spent time in your own Alabama.”

“Golly, it’s a small world, ain’t it, Miss Plumtartt? I like to think that I am Alabama’s favourite Birminghamster.”

“Be that as it may, Miss Stone has inquired as to how you have come to write in this genre and topic.”

“Okey-dokey Miss Plumtartt, Ma’am. Howdy, Miss Kristyn, Ma’am. Thank you for having Miss Plumtartt and me here today. I reckon it was my association with karate and professional wrestling that laid the breadcrumbs from from stuntman to author. You see, what happened was, I had asked some local indie film-makers to keep me in mind for any fight scenes and/or stunt work that might come up. Well what do you know? They came up with a sweeping, no-budget epic. A young Teddy Roosevelt must stop a plot to enslave the world. In it, I get to operate a huge, steam-powered mechanical suit. It made me seven feet tall and super-strong! I beat the snot out of Teddy Roosevelt in it until he shoves me off a giant tower and I plunge to my demise. Anywho, this experience led me to discovering the genre ‘steampunk’. In an effort to give backstory to my character, I wrote my first novel, ‘A Matter of Temperance’. Prior to that, I had not written so much as a grocery list. This book tour {Thanks Enchanted!} is for my eighth adventure, ‘The Title of Temperance’. This is a re-telling, of a re-telling of King Arthur. Mark Twain wrote a story about a modern man, an engineer of the 1890’s, finding himself in the Dark Ages amid King Arthur’s Court. I just sort of put my own, silly twist on the story ‘A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court’.”

“Very good, Mr. Temperance, now tell Miss Stone thank you for allowing us this time on her blog and let us be on our way.”

“Yes, Ma’am, Miss Plumtartt, Ma’am. Thank you, Miss Kristyn, Ma’am for having us here today! Good luck in corralling your leprechauns and in your own writing and photography projects! Be Splendid, y’all! Your pals, Icky and Persephone.”

About the Book

Title: The Title of Temperance

Author: Ichabod Temperance

Genre: Steampunk / Paranormal

Ohhh, my noggin. What has happened? I took a whallop upside the head and woke up in a place far from my time and home. Instead of it being the modern era of 1877 like it ought to be, I am in the distant past of England’s Dark Ages! There are mighty warriors in gleaming armour, and beautiful ladies wearing colourful gowns with taffeta secured dunce caps.

This is the castle Camelot! I am in the company of King Arthur and his majestic Knights!

Golly, can you imagine? Me, Ichabod Temperance, an Alabama tinker in King Arthur’s Camelot!

Oh, Goodness, it ain’t took too long before I already have trouble up to my hat’s brim what with Mr. Merlin, Miss Morgana, and a big mean knight in black armour getting bristly with me. Gee whiz, if I ain’t careful, I might end up wrecking there ever having been a Western Civilization!
